On 13th February 2011 BBC News 24 covered the increasing pressure being put on the UK Government to end the so called offshore fulfilment industry and the exploitation of LVCR that is affecting thousands of mainland UK businesses.

Rodney Brouard thinks it would cost the UK government “far too much” and they’d need “thousands of extra customs officers” – I think a few and the threats of serious fines for tax avoidance would do the job wouldn’t it? That would surely be paid for out of a tiny percentage of what the country would gain and is currently losing under this crazy scheme.

  2. I can’t believe I just saw that! Container loads of stuff being dropped in Guernsey to then be sent back by mail to avoid tax ? And HMRC are concerned about chasing pennies from people who have made errors in their tax returns ? The world’s gone mad!

    • Not only that, the staff themselves actually get bonuses the more pennies they can collect and lose brownie points when returning to the office empty-handed!
